Careers at The Hidden Jams

Why The Hidden Jams?
Every artist has a catalog full of songs that never became hits. Tracks that didn't get the push, the playlist placement, or the moment, but are just as good as the commercial hits and often better. The Hidden Jams exists to help music fans find the songs that were meant for their ears by going directly to the people who know each artist the best, their own fans. We're a 501(c)(3) nonprofit building a platform dedicated to song-level discovery - the hidden gems and deep cuts that even dedicated fans might have missed.

What makes this different
We are a small, ambitious team working at the intersection of music, technology, and recommendations, and you'll have real ownership from day one. The work you do will shape the product, the culture, and how people discover the music meant for their ears. We're based in Athens, GA (one of the best music towns in the world), and are building a Wikipedia-like resource that will live long beyond any of us. Being a non-profit allows us to be laser-focused on our core mission to surface each artist’s hidden gems, while identifying their deep cuts and rank-ordering their catalog.

Who we're looking for
We hire people who are positive, supportive, self-starting, and genuinely excited about what great technology can do for music. Whether your background is in engineering, product, design, or operations, we want to hear from you if this resonates.

About The Hidden Jams

The Hidden Jams is the cheat sheet for music discovery.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, The Hidden Jams leverages the wisdom of fanbases to sort artist catalogs, rank songs, identify deep cuts, and surface the hidden jams that deserve more recognition.

Think Rotten Tomatoes, but for music catalogs.

Our mission is to help fans discover better music through the collective voice of other fans—not algorithms. Every ranking helps uncover the songs that should have been the hits.

As we continue to grow, we're looking for a passionate Social Media & Community Intern who wants to help build a fan-powered movement around music discovery, artist fandom, and community-driven storytelling.

The Opportunity

This isn't your typical social media internship.

You'll work directly with the team behind a growing music platform that's redefining how fans discover and discuss music. You'll help create content, engage with fan communities, identify emerging conversations, and contribute to the growth of a platform built around one simple belief:

Fans know the catalog best.

If you're constantly sharing songs with friends, debating an artist's most underrated track, building playlists, attending concerts, or spending hours on music TikTok, Reddit, Discord, and Instagram, you'll fit right in.

What You'll Do

Content Creation

  • Create and publish content across Instagram, TikTok, X, Reddit, Threads, Facebook, and emerging platforms
  • Edit short-form video content for Reels, TikToks, and YouTube Shorts
  • Design graphics, carousels, memes, and social-first creative assets
  • Repurpose festival footage, artist content, interviews, and community submissions into engaging social content
  • Help develop recurring content series centered around artist catalogs, rankings, deep cuts, hidden jams, and fan opinions

Community Building & Engagement

  • Engage with fans across social platforms, comments, DMs, Reddit communities, and artist conversations
  • Help foster discussions around artist catalogs, rankings, and music discovery
  • Identify opportunities to engage with artist fanbases and relevant music communities
  • Encourage participation on The Hidden Jams platform through thoughtful engagement and conversation

Trend & Artist Research

  • Stay on top of music news, artist releases, internet culture, and fan conversations
  • Identify emerging artists, catalog debates, and trending music moments worth covering
  • Bring fresh content ideas inspired by current music culture

Platform Growth

  • Assist with content scheduling and content calendar management
  • Support artist activations, contests, influencer collaborations, and community initiatives
  • Monitor content performance and surface learnings

What We're Looking For

Must-Haves

  • Passion for music, artist catalogs, and music discovery
  • Strong understanding of fan culture and online communities
  • Familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, X, Reddit, and emerging social platforms
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Experience creating content for social media
  • Self-starter who can take ownership of projects and execute independently
  • Organized, reliable, and excited to contribute ideas

Preferred Experience

  • Experience managing social accounts
  • Familiarity with CapCut, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools
  • Experience creating Reels, TikToks, or YouTube Shorts
  • Understanding of social media analytics and performance metrics
  • Experience participating in music-focused communities online

Bonus Points

  • You're the person friends go to for music recommendations
  • You regularly discover artists before they become mainstream
  • You've attended concerts, festivals, or live music events
  • You're active in music communities on Reddit, Discord, TikTok, or Instagram
  • You have experience with photography, videography, or live event content

What You'll Gain

  • Hands-on experience helping grow a music-focused nonprofit from the ground up
  • Direct mentorship from experienced music marketing and social media professionals
  • Real ownership over creative projects and content initiatives
  • Portfolio-building work in music, entertainment, and digital media
  • Exposure to artist relations, community building, and social growth strategy
  • Potential opportunities for future freelance, contractor, or paid roles as the organization grows
